But it's not evening!

I stopped by the ditch in front of Safeway around 6:45 a.m. to photograph the Hooker's Evening Primrose.  Interesting how in the afternoon and evening the blossoms shrivel up so thoroughly that you can hardly spot them from the road.  But in the morning, they are in full bloom and it lasts almost until noon, or on cloudy days maybe a little after noon.  So, why is it called Evening Primrose?
A little while later I photographed blooming Fireweed on the road into Oakland Camp.  It's in the same family as the Primrose, and it too is in full bloom in the morning.    I'll post the rest of my morning photos after dinner.  Hiked with some campers out to Gilson Creek and back to camp.  It got pretty hot, so we did all our philosophizing in the shady spots  between flower and bug sightings.  It was a great day for Milkweeds.  Four out of five species blooming and the fifth one already gone to seed.  All are attracting interesting bug activity.  More later.
