Late Season Bugs

There are lots of bugs that are not easily intimidated by the early winter-like weather. During yesterday's walk during a break in the rain, I found a small Goldenrod Crab Spider on Tansy after not having seen any of this species for over a month. Then, on another Tansy, I found two different species of bugs interacting. I'm not sure if they were fighting or just doing some inter-species socializing. I shook them both gently into my open hand and the shield-shaped plant bug played possum while the other started racing around my hand and eventually fell off. Today, after the snow stopped, I found both types as well as my friendly neighborhood Oak Treehoppers still hanging out on their favorite plants.
