Monday morning, as I headed up the hill to the main campus, I was greeted by a flaming maple.
At the top of the hill there was another. And the nearby oaks and cottonwoods are beginning to turn, too. There are plenty of evergreens surrounding them to provide contrast. On the edge of campus, there are a number of semi-wild places with abundant asters.
A closer view shows spring-like clusters of fresh blooms.
The plant family once called Compositae, and often called the Sunflower family, is now naked for the Asters, Asteraceae.
Evidently someone thinks the hillside looks better without Asters.
Dang weed eaters.
