I'm interrupting my series on my recent trip to Bucks Lake to bring you my latest photo of the Red Milkweed Beetle,
Tetraopes basalis. It seems I can't get enough of the Showy Milkweed,
Asclepias speciosa. Its fragrance, intricate architecture, and role as a "bug magnet" keep me coming back to my several viewing spots. This is only the second Red Milkweed Beetle I've spotted this year. I'm hoping to encounter a mating pair before another season passes. Will get back the Part 3 of the Bucks Lake photos later today.
