Two More on the Second!
Whitlow Grass and Miniature Miner's Lettuce. Lore later.
It's now later: These two surprised me Saturday morning. Very tiny and easy to overlook. The top three are Whitlow Grass, Draba verna, a member of the mustard family Brassicaceae which used to be called Cruciferae due to the cross-like appearance of most flowers. Some have already gone to seed which makes me think some of this activity must have been going on beneath the snow! The bottom two photos are of Minature Miner's Lettuce, Claytonia parviflora. It is known by many other names. A member of the purslane family, Portulacaceae.
We're having another sunny day, so maybe I'll see something new.
