Disappointment!

In yesterday's post I mentioned a sense of anticipation for the blooming of the gumplant. Well, the weed-eater got them. I was very disheartened this morning to see several miles of roadside wildflower and flowering weed territory mowed - a five-foot-wide, brown flatness where most likely no new weeds will arise before the fall rains. But the weeds are hardier than humans and they will definitely be back next spring. You and I can enjoy the photos all winter.
