This has not been a busy year on my blog, having sometimes gone a month or more without posting anything new. Currently teaching three college classes online from home, and not finding much time to write and post images for the blog. One more week in the semester and Spring has sprung, so that should change. I have a backlog of several dozen photos taken in the last few weeks, so I will soon be posting them along with stories of the experiences I'm having along the way. My overall theme is generally concentrated on flowering plants and their symbiotic relationships with their pollinators. When the mood strikes, I insert philosophical and political comments. Please feel free to share your comments, but please be nice. I try to be.
I have been teaching since 1965 and have recently joined the English Department as an Associate Faculty member at Feather River College. Recently taught Nature Literature in America and am currently teaching Interpersonal Communication and Basic Reading and Writing.
I took a little drive out to Oakland Camp in the rain, not really expecting to do any photography. Wanted to see if the water had risen to cover the bridge again. On a whim, I decided to get out in the rain to check on the place where I discovered Mountain Lady Slippers last summer. Lo and behold, they were budding. I decided I had to get some photos, so I shielded my camera with my jacket and went back into the woods. Got these photos of the Lady Slipper plus a beautiful Spotted Coral Root, also an orchid like the lady slipper. In the vicinity, I also got some nice shots of the Western Dog Violet, False Solomon's Seal, and Checker Bloom. The lichens on the tree branches are looking really good in this rainy weather, too. I'll post photos of these others early tomorrow morning.
