This has not been a busy year on my blog, having sometimes gone a month or more without posting anything new. Currently teaching three college classes online from home, and not finding much time to write and post images for the blog. One more week in the semester and Spring has sprung, so that should change. I have a backlog of several dozen photos taken in the last few weeks, so I will soon be posting them along with stories of the experiences I'm having along the way. My overall theme is generally concentrated on flowering plants and their symbiotic relationships with their pollinators. When the mood strikes, I insert philosophical and political comments. Please feel free to share your comments, but please be nice. I try to be.
I have been teaching since 1965 and have recently joined the English Department as an Associate Faculty member at Feather River College. Recently taught Nature Literature in America and am currently teaching Interpersonal Communication and Basic Reading and Writing.
I like to think that my photos help some people overcome their arachnophobia. There were a few people at my opening last Friday night who were checking out my photos, one by one, as they walked along, but quickly stepped away when they came to the first spider. There were others, however, who admitted a distaste for spiders but were so intrigued by their beauty, especially the yellow one with red 'racing stripes,' that they looked for quite a while and engaged me in conversation about where I took the photos and about their natural history. I love it when that happens. I'll soon be putting together a booklet with natural history notes about all the photos in my show. Hopefully, it will be available before the show is over at the end of March.
