Random thoughts on a Saturday afternoon.
I was invited over to a friend's house to view again my new favorite bug, the Oak Treehopper, which has colonized my favorite tree, California Black Oak. We conversed about the patterns of changing colors in various species of trees, and I mentioned the Bigleaf Maple, shown above, that I photographed last Thursday near the Keddie Y, a well-known fork in a railroad trestle. The photo is featured in the October 10 post in the Awesome Autumn blog on the Plumas Visitors Bureau website. Here, but not there, you can click on the photo for a larger, closer view. Great little tree. Check it out while it lasts - near the construction site for the new Spanish Creek Bridge.
