Effects of reading Jon Krakauer

I was reading Krakauer's Into the Wild while waiting for my son at the dentist's office when a call came in.  "It's from your wife.  Go home immediately.  There's a bear on the back deck."  The two minute drive to my house seemed like a half hour.  Rest of story coming soon.
