Old Reliable, AKA the Judge Thieler Tree is showing lots of color. Check out the blog known as Q-topia by Sierrosmith for a daily progress report on the changes of this great tree on the corner of High Street and Lee Way. [High Street is interrupted. To find this tree, take Buchanan, south off Jackson - that's a block west of the courthouse - then turn left on High. THe tree is on the right at the end of the block. It can also be approached via Monte Vista, off Coburn. Take Monte Vista west off Coburn, then turn right onto Lee Way.]
These maples in a ditch alongside the western end of Jackson Street in Quincy are showing lots of subtle color spectra from green to yellow, orange and red. And the red petioles stand out.
The contrast between the red maples and the green of Cascara Buckthorn beg for consideration as a Christmas card. Follow the development of fall colors on the PlumasCounty.org website by clicking on Awesome Autumn.

Thanks for the plug (and the photo). I linked back to your photo from today's post.
ReplyDeleteFor those trying to find Judge Thieler's tree, it is important to find West High Street, because confusingly, W. High St. has no connection with High Street.
Also, "Thieler" is a German name, spelled ..ie...
Spelling correction entered. Thanks, Sierrosmith. Hopefully added directions to the tree will be helpful. When in doubt, check Google Maps.
