A Nice Little Pagoda by a Stream
After hiking a while on the trail by Tollgate Creek this morning and finding very few blooming flowers, it was a treat to find this one blooming in a shady area. Seems like some sort of mint, and, in fact, looks a bit like Catnip, but I have misplaced my field guide. Will check on the ID later, but for now anted to share the beauty. Click on the photo to enjoy the detail.

It looks like it could be a form of Self-Heal (Prunella species). Let me know what you determine! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dalynn. Self-heal occurred to me, as did Horse Mint, but I haven't seen any images of these that are totally white. Always some blue or pink. I'll probably need to drag out my old Jepson and review a few plant anatomy terms.
ReplyDeleteA little more research plus a couple of emails seem to point to Self-heal. Thanks everyone.
